If you ask our tenants how they felt about leaving the “independence” of their houses, they smile. Some even laugh. It’s a bit of a joke here. Every one of them had a good reason to move to senior housing, but most thought they’d be unhappy. That is, until they settled into our comfortable, worry-free apartments, designed for people 55 and older. Here’s what they tell us now:
- “I wasn’t independent. I was a servant to my yard. Now I’m independent.”
- “I thought I might feel ‘cut off’ here. But once I moved in, I realized I’d been terribly, terribly lonely. I’m not lonely anymore!”
A safe and lively haven, with loads of extras
- Leave cleaning behind. Cooking, too, if that’s your desire.
- Never lift a shovel or hedge clippers again.
- Keep your car in our lot or garage – come and go as you please.
- Take our bus to appointments, the grocery store or the bank.
- Have your groceries and prescriptions delivered to your door.
- Have your hair trimmed or styled in our salon and never risk the rain!
- Hang your laundry outside. Or have it done for you.
- Dozens of on-site activities are available if you choose to participate, from Bible study to our unusual bingo games.
- Enjoy excellent meals in our dining room.
There are six floor plans from which to choose. Each apartment has a full-size stove and refrigerator, separate bedroom and bathroom, locks on doors, and heat and cooling control. Every room includes an emergency pull-cord, monitored 24/7 by the Long Term Care staff next door.
Monthly rent includes utilities, cable TV service, in-house activities, weekly light housekeeping, maintenance and outdoor parking.
Your phone bill is not part of your rent and will be mailed directly to you. Wireless Internet service is not included. Community dining is charged per meal.
Our apartments are all just an easy covered walk away from the community dining room, GRHS cafeteria, hospital, Long Term Care and Glencoe Clinic.
