Construction details about our nursing home project
We are planning a major remodeling and expansion of GRHS Long Term Care, the nursing home on our Glencoe campus.
The $25 million project will create an environment that is both modern and home-like, while facilitating a more individualized care experience for residents with a broad range of needs:
- Long-term residential skilled nursing care
- Short-term transitional care and rehabilitation
- Specialized care for people who live with breathing-assist devices
- Memory care for people with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia
Design and construction services
Architects at Wold, a St. Paul-based architectural firm that specializes in hospital, clinic and senior living facilities, are designing the new nursing home.
The Hutchinson office of Hasslen Construction is managing the selection process for the necessary building trades and acting as on-site construction manager.
Planning and contracting are underway. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in April 2017, upon successful completion of the bidding process. The project will be completed in two phases:
- Phase 1
The first phase of the project will be to build a new two-story addition to the current nursing home facility. The addition will house the four households for traditional residential care. We anticipate the first phase will be complete in early 2018.
- Phase 2
Once current residents are moved into their new rooms and households in the addition, the second phase of construction take place as the current one-story nursing home space is remodeled to meet the unique requirements of short-stay residents and memory-care residents. We anticipate the second phase will begin in spring 2018 and be completed toward the end of 2018.
