Cardiologists from the Minneapolis Heart Institute visit GRHS every Friday. To make an appointment with a consulting cardiologist, call 320-864-7750 or toll free 1-888-526-4242, ext. 7750, between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday – Friday. You will be scheduled with one of the physicians below.
Richard Bae, MD Richard Bae, MD

Dr. Bae earned his Bachelor’s degree in biology at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore. He completed his residency and fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Cardiovascular Diseases and the National Board of Echocardiography.

Nicholas Burke, MD Nicholas Burke, MD

Dr. Burke is a graduate of Yale University Medical School. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota, where he returned for his residency in internal medicine and fellowships in cardiology and interventional cardiology. Dr. Burke is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Cardiovascular Diseases, and the American Board of Interventional Cardiology.

Bjorn Flygenring, MD Bjorn Flygenring, MD

Dr. Flygenring earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Oslo in Norway and his medical degree at the University of Iceland in Reykjavik. He completed fellowships in cardiology and interventional cardiology at the University of Seattle in Washington. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Cardiovascular Diseases.

Robert Hauser, MD Robert Hauser, MD

Dr. Hauser received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Cincinnati in Ohio. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Cincinnati General Hospital and a fellowship in cardiology at Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Hospital in Chicago. He is certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Diseases.

David Hurrell, MD David Hurrell, MD

Dr. Hurrell received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Dakota and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Mayo School of Medicine in Rochester. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Hospital, affiliated with Harvard University in Boston, and a fellowship in cardiology at the Mayo Clinic. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Cardiovascular Diseases.

David Hurrell, MD Marc Newell, MD

Dr. Newell earned his undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Minnesota. He completed his residency at Abbott Northwestern Hospital and his fellowship at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Newell is certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has special interests in echocardiography, nuclear medicine, cardiac MRI and cardiac CT.
